Crieff – Broich Road

  • £4.5 million B&M store and garden centre
  • 84 parking spaces
  • New footpath providing safer route for the community
  • 50 long-term retail and 50-60 construction jobs

Following the acquisition of the site in Broich Road, a pre-let agreement was secured with B&M Stores. Plans were submitted for the construction of a class one retail unit with an adjoining garden centre, with B&M named as the contracted occupier.

Plans for the £4.5 million investment were approved by Perth and Kinross Council in June 2020. Muir Construction was contracted for the build, and in early December 2020 work started on building the 22,000 sq ft retail outlet and 7,500 sq ft garden centre along with 84 parking spaces.

A sod-cutting ceremony with Councillor Rhona Brock was held on 7 December to mark the commencement of works.

The project helps the community with the creation of 50 long-term retail jobs as well as 50 to 60 construction jobs, including an apprenticeship, during the build and fit-out phases. The construction phase was completed in July 2021 and the site handed over to B&M on 2 August to begin fit-out prior to opening on 24 September.

The development complements Crieff’s existing High Street offer and helps promote the town as a retail destination. It also provides a much-needed public footpath along Broich Road linking with the existing public footway.
